Am I the Only One? Finding My Pica People Online

For the longest time, I truly thought I was alone. I had this weird, quiet craving I couldn’t explain. I didn’t talk about it. I didn’t even Google it properly for years. It was just my little thing — crunching a flake of plaster here, sneaking a taste of clay-like dirt there, obsessing over the texture of beach sand or the smell of a cold, damp basement. I thought I was odd... but harmlessly so.

Then one lazy afternoon, I stumbled into a rabbit hole that changed everything.

It started with a random “Crunch ASMR” video. You know the ones — someone eating chalk or clay on camera with oddly satisfying crunch sounds. I had no idea this kind of content even existed, and suddenly... I couldn’t look away. I spent hours deep-diving into this strange but magical corner of the internet.

And then I found her.

Pica Princess. Or as she’s better known in her many reincarnated forms: ASMRPPrincess7. Yes, the legend. Will she ever stop getting blocked? Can the internet please just let the woman live?! She’s just giving the people what they want — and let me tell you, I wanted. I binged her videos like they were a series on Netflix. Crumbling slate, biting chalk, breaking earth between her fingers... it felt like watching someone do something I’d only ever fantasised about in secret. And here she was doing it boldly. On camera. For all of us.

That was the day I realised — I’m not the only one.

Through Reddit threads, TikTok pages, and late-night YouTube marathons, I discovered a whole world of people who shared my cravings. They had names for it — Pica, Geophagy. They traded vendor recommendations, shared taste reviews, posted crunch clips, and bonded over the unique satisfaction of a perfect crumble or that first chalky bite.

For the first time ever, I felt seen.

No more hiding. No more shame. Just pure, unapologetic crunchy joy. And now, I’m part of that world too — not just watching from the sidelines, but contributing with Earthy Crunch UK, my little hub for fellow clay and chalk lovers right here in the UK.

So if you’ve ever typed “eating chalk ASMR” into YouTube at 1am... or secretly tasted soil as a kid and never stopped wanting it... welcome. You’re in good company.

Here’s to finding our people — and crunching like there’s no tomorrow. 💥
