Details
Blackhall Clay is a bold, dark grey Indian clay prized for its smooth, cementy earthiness and clean, satisfying crunch. Known for being one of the milder black varieties, Blackhall offers a refined balance of roasted warmth and subtle smokiness without overpowering the palate. When wet, it releases a gentle petrol-like aroma — a signature trait adored by black clay enthusiasts — while staying beautifully clean, non-sticky, and grit-free.
Each chunk delivers a firm yet pleasant snap that breaks down into a dusty, mineral-rich chew reminiscent of roasted Nakumatt styles. With its natural dark-grey tones, hard texture, and grounded flavour profile, Blackhall is an excellent choice for those who enjoy black clays without the intensity of stronger smoky varieties.

Blackhall belongs to India’s longstanding tradition of consuming mineral-rich grey and black clays, valued for their firm crunch, earthy depth, and distinctive roasted aromas. Darker clays such as this are often collected from iron-rich soils and sun-dried or lightly roasted to highlight their natural flavour. Loved across geophagy communities for its balanced character, Blackhall offers a classic, heritage-rooted black clay experience.

Storage Tips
To keep your clays and treats fresh, crunchy, and full of flavour, always store them in an airtight container in a cool, dry place away from moisture, humidity, and strong odours. Exposure to air or dampness can alter both texture and taste.
We highly recommend using our stash boxes, available on the website — designed specifically to protect and organise your clay collection with ease.
Handling Guidelines
- clean, dry hands
Fragility Disclaimer
All clay treats and terracotta pot products are handmade and naturally fragile, making them susceptible to breakage during delivery.
While we take great care in packing each item securely, minor cracks, chips, or crumbled pieces may occur. This is a natural part of working with handcrafted clays and does not affect taste or enjoyment.
