Details
African White Kaolin Clay (current batch: light pink) offers a gentle, chalk-forward clay experience rooted in Nigeria’s long-standing kaolin traditions. Favoured by geophagy and pica enthusiasts who enjoy softer, dustier clays, these medium-firm chunks break easily on the bite before melting down into a smooth, gummy, almost silky consistency similar to classic Georgia white. The flavour is mild and comforting, led by dusty kaolin earthiness and basement-like soil notes, with a fresh rainy petrichor character and subtle forest or woody undertones. A faint tang may appear at the finish, adding interest without overpowering the overall calm profile. With no grit but a tendency to stick as it melts, this clay is especially well suited to those who prefer chalky, mellow textures over hard crunch.

Traditional Clay Origins
White and pink kaolin clays — often referred to as African white chalk or calabash chalk — have been cherished across West Africa for generations. Valued for their purity, gentle mineral profile, and calming nature, these clays have traditionally been used in geophagy, digestive-soothing practices, and cultural rituals. Naturally fine-grained and minimally processed, kaolin clays are especially appreciated for their soft crunch, clean melt, and approachable flavour. This light pink variety continues that tradition, offering a mild, chalk-friendly option for both newcomers and experienced clay collectors.

Storage Tips
To keep your clays and treats fresh, crunchy, and full of flavour, always store them in an airtight container in a cool, dry place away from moisture, humidity, and strong odours. Exposure to air or dampness can alter both texture and taste.
We highly recommend using our stash boxes, available on the website — designed specifically to protect and organise your clay collection with ease.
Handling Guidelines
- clean, dry hands
Fragility Disclaimer
All clay treats and terracotta pot products are handmade and naturally fragile, making them susceptible to breakage during delivery.
While we take great care in packing each item securely, minor cracks, chips, or crumbled pieces may occur. This is a natural part of working with handcrafted clays and does not affect taste or enjoyment.
